  IPT [Innovative Practices for Transparency]

CONTEXT
Corruption is a serious problem for most countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. It negatively affects public services delivery, crime and violence, undermining confidence in public institutions. The international community, civil society and governments in the region, both at the central and local levels, are increasingly engaging in the search for innovative tools that allow for more transparent, participatory and efficient management of public resources.

The need for financial and technical resources to advance the design and implementation of these tools depends on the country, region and/or sectors of intervention. Additionally, a region's deficit is the lack of interaction between governments, NGOs and private sector entities to discuss successful experiences, consolidate and disseminate information on lessons learned regarding the design and implementation of mechanisms and tools aimed at enhancing transparency and efficency.

GOALS
Through IPT, SILACPO offers a new space to increase awareness and public understanding of the challenges, problems and lessons learned that relate to the implementation of innovative tools for enhancing transparency in Latin America and the Caribbean. The main goal of IPT is to provide an user-friendly plattform to governments, NGOs and private sector entities in the region to interact with each other and thus enhance their institutional capacities to prevent and control corruption.

Information regarding the experiences, practices and lessons that are published here are organized by areas and sectors of intervention, based on the understanding that the search for transparency and accountability depends on the nature and value change of the specific sectors or areas of intervention.
